Hello Lincoln Lightning Families,

This upcoming week we will be continuing to practice free and back and will be focusing on breaststroke. Coaches will also be teaching and reviewing backstroke flip turns, backstroke starts, and open turns. There will be no practice this Thursday, September 17th.

Time Trials

Time trials are quickly approaching on Monday, September 28th. Please declare your swimmer to swim in Swimtopia It will be easiest to do this on a PC. On the team website, you will go to ‘Schedule’, then click on ‘Time Trials’. You will declare you swimmer to swim (or not swim) and you can also sign up for your volunteer shifts at the same time. If you get stuck or would rather I sign up your child, please email me at [email protected]. We need to know if your child will or will not be participating. Sign ups are due by Tuesday, September 22.

Meet Info/ Timeline

Gates will open at 3:00pm. Check in will be from 3-3:15pm. Warm ups will begin at 3:15pm. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:00pm. All 6 & under swimmers will be finished by 5:30pm and the meet will end no later than 7:00pm.

Warm up schedule

3:15-3:25pm- 10 & under (Groups: White, Blue, Yellow)

3:25-3:35pm- 9-12 (Groups: Black and Green)

3:35-3:50pm- 11-18(Gold)

Attendance

Just a reminder that we do not take attendance daily at practice and there is no attendance requirement. However, the more the swimmers are there the more they will get out of the program. They may miss certain skills or technique being taught if they are not there. We do a lot of repetition and will reteach skills as needed, but there is a lot to learn the first few weeks, especially for our new swimmers.

• Ages 4–6 & 7–10: 4:15–5:00 PM
• Ages 11-12 & 13-18: 5:00–6:10 PM
• Ages 9-12: 6:10-7:00 PM

• Goggles
• Cap (if your child still needs a Lincoln Lightning cap we have them available on deck)
• Fins
• Water bottle
• Snorkel (optional for GOLD group)
• Towel

Swimmer Education Video

This video teaches and show a proper open turn. Swimmers who are 10 and older will be learning this skill this week. If you have time please show your swimmer. Thank you.

Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament

The Mayor’s Cup Golf Challenge supports the Mayor’s Cup Scholarship Fund, offering scholarships and fee waivers to low income families for Lincoln’s youth recreation programs. Every registration helps provide scholarships and recreation fee assistance so Lincoln youth can participate regardless of household income. Additionally, this past season we were able to use funds for start up costs for our first year as Lincoln LIghtning in a summer swim league. We purchased out time drops system, all of our new pop up tents, team shirts and caps, and equipment to run computers at meets. If you are interested in participating or sponsoring the event, please see the attached flyers. I am also in need of raffle baskets if anyone has a business and would like to make a raffle donation, please email me.
