Weekly Update 10/28-10/30
Hey, Team Lightning!
The kids did so well this weekend. I talked to them yesterday a little about the meet. There were a TON of best times and there were some that were really close to their past times. With how fast we ran the meet, how many events they swam, and how little rest they got, it was more like a practice than a meet. If they had more time between events they would have swam faster and the cold didn't help. However, getting to swim a lot of events, and practice racing is more beneficial at this stage of development than just swimming one or two races. We are so proud of the progress they have made in such a short amount of time! Thank you to all you parents for all you did to make it happen last weekend. I know how much work it is to load up for meets and keep kids warm and happy. You are a great group of parents and so supportive of your kids and in it for the right reasons. It is refreshing after some of the programs I have worked with.
Below are the details for this week!
Tuesday (TODAY): Normal practice + fun game
Wednesday, October 29: Bring a friend to practice! The friend must be able to swim at least 25 yards (8& under) and 50 yards (9& up) and sign a waiver when they get there. We will do half the practice like a normal practice, and then we will be doing relays and activities with pumpkins.
Thursday, October 30: End of Season Party! 4:30-6pm
4:30-5:15- Costume contest, swimmer recognition, and carnival type games. We will be doing popsicles, ice cream sandwiches and drumsticks.
5:15-6pm- Open Swim! We will have the diving boards open, lane lines out, and fun toys in the pool.
If you didn't get your ribbons yesterday, don't forget to grab them tonight. See you at practice!
